Experience
U.S. Department of Justice - Federal Bureau of Prisons August 1997 to June 1998  -  Licensed Vocational nurse / Emergency Medical Technician

Primary Responsibilities:  Performing emergency medical evaluations and treatments to federal prisoners and institutional staff. Preparing daily medications for distribution to inmates. Managing the monitoring of blood sugar levels for diabetic inmates using finger stick protocols. Physical and psychological evaluations of new inmates presented to the institution for incarceration. Supervising duties of working inmates. Patient education during and after medical interventions. Insuring continued integrity of institution security through inventory counts, safety inspections of immediate working area, pat searches of inmates, and area searches of inmate housing units. Administrative duties as assigned.

Greenspring Wellness Center November 1996 to August 1997  -  Practice Manager for Doctor Cadoux M.D., F.A.C.E.P.

Primary Responsibilities:   Ensuring that the highest quality of care is given to every client at all times. Overseeing duties performed by office and medical staff. Training of staff members on computer and diagnostic equipment used within the facility. Development and creation of new documentation forms and procedures for enhanced productivity and efficiency. Maintaining personal schedule for Dr. Cadoux, making meetings and appointments fit into his patient care schedule. Placement and care of IV’s for patients receiving Chelation therapy.

United States Navy August 1992 to August 1996 (Honorable Discharge)  -  Leading petty Officer of Emergency Medical Services

Primary Responsibilities:  Managing eight to ten EMT’s and the operations of two ALS equipped ambulances. Preparing monthly morbidity reports and ambulance usage statistical reports. Preparing semi-annual evaluation reports for personnel assigned to my division. Conducting training programs for the certification of Navy EMT’s. Conducting CPR certification classes and assisting with Advanced Trauma Life Support and other varied certification courses. Orientation of new nurses and Hospital Corpsman to the Emergency Department consisting of training for IV placement and care, trauma evaluation and treatment, and departmental policies and procedures. Performance of direct patient care in the ER including but not limited to the following: trauma assessment and treatment, IV placement and care, phlebotomy, EKG’s, general and cosmetic suturing, medication administration, general wound care, splinting and casting, medical history taking, planning and implementation of nursing care for emergent and non-emergent patients, triage, and patient education.

Secondary Responsibilities:  Supply Petty Officer for Emergency Room and Emergency Medical Services Departments with a total annual budget of $940,000.00. Maintaining equipment and supplies contained within the departments. Researching and purchasing new equipment for department and training the 240 staff members on equipment operations. Assisting in management of 74 ER Hospital Corpsman, overseeing training and performance of duties in the Emergency Room.
